Spark Inside is thrilled to announce our new Board Chair, Erica Handling!
Erica is an executive coach whose practice focusses on clients from the law and financial services as well as the public and charitable sectors. She is a non-executive director on the Board of the Government Legal Department and a trustee of charities Working Chance, St Giles Trust and Iyengar Yoga Maida Vale. Her previous executive career was as a lawyer. She was European General Counsel at asset manager BlackRock and before that Barclays Investment Bank. Prior to that she was a structured finance partner at law firms Weil Gotshal and Ashurst.
Erica says:
“I’m excited to be starting at a time when, as the sector navigates this new world, Spark Inside have proven themselves to be highly innovative and resilient. 2021 is going to be a year full of challenge and opportunity and I’m looking forward to helping to shape the strategic direction, keeping the young people in prison at the heart of our decisions. I am getting to know Spark Inside as a charity that truly punches above its weight, with a team of bright and passionate staff and coaches, and I am certain that we will continue to strengthen our impact.”
Roma Hooper, previous Spark Inside Chair, and currently Chair of Clinks said: “I am delighted to be handing over the reins to such a great new Chair for Spark Inside, Erica. I am confident that under her leadership Spark Inside will continue to flourish and strengthen and I wish her all the very best in this new and exciting role.”
Also announced this week is our new Treasurer, Josephine Lyseight. Josephine tells us: “I am extremely excited to join the Spark Inside. I believe in giving back to the community and have a deep passion for volunteering and putting my skills and experience to good use and absolutely learning new ones! I am looking forward to getting stuck in and making a real difference.”
Finally, we have announced with pleasure that two of our Board Fellows, Stephanie Davin and Sophie Ruddock, have now become Trustees!
Stephanie says: “Spark Inside is such an innovative, warm and impactful organisation and I couldn’t be happier to be joining as a Trustee. Looking forward to continuing to work with everyone there in the years to come.”
And Sophie says: “I’m delighted to continue my involvement over the last two years with Spark Inside as a Trustee. Now, more than ever, we need organisations pioneering models of support that focus on supporting people to realise their potential, and in doing so, transform how the criminal justice system operates. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with Spark Inside!”
