MeetournewCoachSupervisors
We are delighted to welcome two new coach supervisors to the Spark Inside team: Jeffrey Wotherspoon and Lilian Flynn.
Our team of professional life coaches are the heartbeat of the organisation and are essential in delivering our mission to use coaching to unlock the potential of individuals and drive culture change in the criminal justice system, so that rehabilitation is possible.
At Spark Inside, coaching supervision provides a safe and supportive space for our coaches to explore their work coaching our clients with a supervisor who is objective, yet experienced in working in the same area as our client base.
Jeffrey and Lilian have both delivered Spark Inside’s Hero’s Journey programmes and one-to-one coaching for many years. We’re delighted they will both now be stepping into this new role, and that the team will have the support of their combined compassion and expertise.
Jeffrey (pictured bottom left) joined Spark Inside in 2013, originally as a Coach delivering the flagship Hero’s Journey workshops and one-to-one coaching to young men in custody and through-the-gate. Over more than a decade, Jeffrey became Head Coach, recruited and trained new coaches, and led on several initiatives such as the Black Hero’s Journey and quality assurance for programme delivery, and supported fundraising and raising the awareness of Spark Inside through public talks and media appearances.
Jeffrey now steps into the role of Coach Supervisor, providing a reflective and supportive space for coaches working in the complexity of prison settings. Alongside his work with Spark Inside, Jeffrey is an executive coach, group facilitator, and the creator of the Relational Gap™ framework. He works with senior leaders across the voluntary, public and private sectors. Among other things, he is a PCC-accredited coach with the International Coaching Federation, trained in group dynamics through Organisation and Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC) and Lewis Deep Democracy, and is a certified coaching supervisor.
Jeffrey is passionate about the power of coaching to help people rewrite their story, a belief shaped in part by his own experience growing up in inner-city London and learning to navigate tension and build trust with people from all walks of life.
Lilian (pictured bottom right) is an experienced coach, coach supervisor and coach trainer who brings warmth, curiosity and psychological depth to her work. Having worked with Spark Inside since 2018, she has supported people across a range of programmes within the prison system, developing a deep appreciation of the challenges, complexities and possibilities of coaching in such a unique environment. She is passionate about supporting coaches to develop their confidence, reflective capacity and ethical practice, recognising that the quality of the coaching relationship is shaped not only by what we do, but by who we are and how we show up.
Lilian holds an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology and is an ICF professional certified coach. Alongside her 1:1 and group work she supports organisations to create systemic and cultural change. She as a particular interest in the ways our experiences, identities and worldviews shape how we navigate the world, and in creating reflective spaces that invite deeper awareness and new possibilities.
