The Ministry of Justice’s new strategy aims to get people in prison on the path to employment as soon as they arrive. From increasing release on temporary license, to the proposed national insurance tax break for organisations employing people who have been in prison – we welcome the strategy and its positive proposals, which we hope will go some way to getting people out of prison, for good.
If the government commits to, and delivers on these proposals, we have no doubt they will positively impact on the people in prison we exist to work with and for, their families, our communities and ultimately, our society. These positive steps to reduce reoffending benefit all of us.
At Spark Inside, we will have a continued commitment to employing people with convictions, and no longer asking about criminal convictions during recruitment where they are not necessary.
