We’re just getting started!
Spark Inside is 12 years old. We have come a long way from coaching eight young people in Cookham Wood and Feltham in our first year, to coaching over 200 young people every year across eight prisons.
We have been on a Hero’s Journey of our own.
To create our new strategy, we gathered insights from many viewpoints. Over the last year, I have spent time discussing this with the team, coaches, young people we work with and the Board. While setting a course, every conversation and indeed debate has enriched our thinking.
We are excited about what we have set out to do.
Some highlights for me:
- Our ambition to drive and champion a coaching culture in prisons. Let’s go!
- A commitment to a new regional hub and to pilot coaching young women
- Setting out to reach many more young people with Hero’s Journey programmes.
- All with our own coaching culture at the heart.
As for me personally, I am four years in post and have ‘Spark’ for what is ahead. I am really proud of the team we have in place to make this happen.
As we go forward, I have one young man’s words ringing in my head: “You’re about what you’re about”.
We ask young people to think about a future that excites them. Here we have ours.
