In an article for the Byline Times last week, our CEO Vicki Cardwell explores how Covid-19 restrictions in prisons can be navigated to keep hope alive, following a warning issued last week by outgoing Chief Inspector of Prisons, Peter Clarke.
Ahead of the publication of his latest annual report of the conditions of prisons in England and Wales in 2019/20, Mr. Clarke told BBC Newsnight “There’s not much hope” for people locked in their cells for 23 hours a day for months on end”.
Vicki said in the article:
“Anyone who knows someone in prison, has worked with someone who’s been to prison or lived or worked behind bars knows that hope for the future is the lifeblood of rehabilitation”
